My name is Felicia Ruiz, and I’m currently a stay at home mom of two boys, ages 11 and 8. I have a degree in special education, graduated with honors, but didn’t really teach after I got my degree. I had just over 15 years of experience working with kids before that, though, ranging from one to 10-year-olds, working in child development centers, Montessori schools and, of course, babysitting.
Wanting to still stay at home, I tried to think of my niche so I could jump on the work-at-home movement. I don’t think I have a ‘niche’ just some very useful ideas from my years of experience and education. I hope this website reflects that and becomes very useful for you, the parents, as well.
My teaching philosophy is mixed, much like Bruce Lee’s fighting philosophy. Influenced by many great child development icons such as Maria Montessori, Jean Piaget, and B. F. Skinner, I’ve remained flexible to each child and each situation, which can only benefit the child. I know the public school system is sometimes too rigid and changing that is taking more time than any of us want. So, with this site, I’ll give you, the parents, ideas on how to help your kids learn and enjoy learning with hobbies.
